Bláthnaid
Bláthnaid
Bláthnaid is a professional singer and musician from Dublin city. She trained as a classical pianist in the Conservatory of Music and Drama from the age of five, and continued on to do a music degree in NUI Maynooth where she specialised in piano performance, choral singing, early music ensemble singing and plainchant. This interest in early music has contributed to her pure angelic tone and her ability to sing in beautiful, flowing melodic lines.
Bláthnaid toured the world with the Australian children’s band The Wiggles from 2010 – 2013, spending a lot of time in the studio recording the vocals of ‘Dorothy the Dinosaur’, as well as backing vocals and instrumental parts on the piano, bass guitar and glockenspiel.
In 2007 she became a member of the internationally renowned vocal ensemble Anúna, with whom she has toured the globe and recorded several albums in Windmill Lane with Brian Masterson. Anúna is the leading voice of modern Irish choral music under director-composer Michael McGlynn, bringing together a wealth of ancient Irish music and the stories of the human spirit.
